As technology advances, we find ourselves saying goodbye to the old and embracing the new, and every few years, Windows discontinues support for one of their operating systems and transitions people to the newest program.
As of January 14th, 2020 Windows will be discontinuing support for Windows 7, so it’s time to say goodbye to the old, embrace the new and improved and upgrade to Windows 10.
Now if you’re like most people, the idea of “upgrading” your operating system seems like a daunting task. So, we laid it out as simple as possible so you can have a step by step guide to upgrading to Windows 10.
So before you actually start this process, we would recommend pulling up this article on your phone or another device, so you can follow along while you update your computer. OK, now let’s get started!
STEP: 1
Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
STEP: 2
Select the “Download tool now” button
STEP: 3
Download and run the file when asked.
STEP: 4
When asked, accepts the license agreement and continue to the next screen. (the program can take a little while before it’s ready)
STEP: 5
Select the “Upgrade this PC now” option and click next
STEP: 6
Select the “Upgrade this PC now” option and click next
STEP: 7
After downloading and checking for updates the tool will ask you “what do you want to keep?” click install.
STEP: 8
Setup will start the upgrade process, this can take a while. The computer can restart several times during this process, do not be alarmed. After setup is finished a configuration welcome screen will appear, select what options you wish and continue to the Windows 10 login screen.
